The Young Environmentalist

Today, Ralph will be competing in his school's "search for the young Environmentalist". He is his section's representative. The contest aims to spread environmental awareness among the students of Lourdes School of Mandaluyong.

Today's event is only the other half of the contest. The contestants will give their environmental awareness speech and this will correspond to 50% of their score. The other half of the score will be taken from the empty tetrapak carton votes that each section collects.

Ralph's speech is focused on the fact that man is a part of the environment he lives in. Being the wisest of all creatures, he should be the one taking care of it. He will also be pointing out the importance of caring for the environment and the ways young students can do to protect Mother Earth. He will be wearing a military costume because one of his key points is for young boys to be Mother Earth's environmental police.

Call me a stage mom but I am confident that Ralph will do well today. We have rehearsed his speech the whole week before going to bed. He was able to memorize all 512 words of his speech. Even if he forgets some lines, I'm sure he will be able to improvise.

My son is a very competitive boy. We do not need to remind him to do his best. I don't know if this is good or not but, at his age, he has already set standards for himself. Today, I'm just gonna sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.
