First in line is Life of Pi. Based on the acclaimed best-selling book by Yann Martel, Life of Pi tells the story of Pi Patel (played by newcomer Suraj Sharma) who, with the Bengal tiger named Richard Parker, survived 227 days at sea after his family was shipwrecked. Directed by Ang Lee, moviegoers will be inspired and amazed on Pi's struggles and adventures across the Pacific. Life of Pi is showing on January 9.
Lolos and lolas will definintely find themselves in Artie and Diane Decker (played by Billy Crystal and Bette Midler repectively) in Parental Guidance. Called in by their daughter Alice (Marissa Tomei) to help care for their three grandchildren, a heart-warming chaos ensues in the once orderly household, not to mention the their clashing old school and new school parenting styles. Parental Guidance opens in theaters on January 16.
Next is Epic which is lifted from the pages of The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs. Epic is about the war between those who protect nature and those who want to destroy it. In the middle of it all is a teenage girl who was magically transported into this secret universe. Epic is directed by Chris Wedge (of the Ice Age series) anf features the voices of Amanda Seyfried, Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrel, Steven Tyler, Beonce Knowles, Christoph Waltz, and Pitbull. Epic is showing on May 24.
Meanwhile, making a comeback is Poseidon's son, Percy Jackson in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Starring Logan Lerman, this installment is about Percy's quest to find the mythical golden fleece and to save Camp Half-Blood from monsters.
20th Century Fox is also releasing inspiring 3D animation from DreamWorks and these are The Croods and Turbo. Both animated movies are about changing the pace of history and destiny with courage amidst the odds.
The Croods is a prehistoric 3D comedy adventure will take viewers back to the beginning of time. In a previously undiscovered era known as the Croodacious, the Crood family lives in the time when Mother Nature was still experimenting and the flora and fauna we know today hasn’t evolved yet. The Crood family is led by Grug (voice of Nicolas Cage), an overly-protective father who just wants to keep his family safe from all the cataclysmic changes that were happening in that era. He goes on a journey with his wife (Catherine Keener), kids (Emma Stone and Clark Duke), and mother-in-law (Cloris Leachman) to find a new cave to call home. Along the way, they meet Guy (Ryan Reynolds) who is a total opposite of the head of the family.
Meanwhile, Turbo tells the story of an ordinary garden snail who goes for his impossible dream to become the greatest racer in the world. Turbo, the ultimate underdog who is obsessed with speed and all things fast has made him an oddity and outsider in the slow and cautious snail community. When a freak accident gives him extraordinary speed, Turbo sets out to try to make this dream come true. Turbo’s all-star voice cast includes Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Jackson.
