5. Cape Hillsborough Beach in Mackay
Cape Hillsborough Beach is just 20 kilometres to the north of Mackay. You can find it tucked away between a pair of rocky headlands. It is a great spot for pictures because most Australians have never even heard of it. The beach is actually part of what is today known as the National Park at Cape Hillsborough. There are even a set of kangaroos that live in the area that you might choose to have in the pictures with you. When low tide hits, the beach can expand to more than 200 metres in width.
4. Ellis Beach, close to Palm Grove
Ellis Beach is one of the beaches in the northern Cairns area, and it's as beautiful as anything in Palm Cove while being less heavily travelled. You can even have a burger with the family at the Bar and Grill once the pictures are done.
3. Monkey Beach, over on Great Keppel Island
Even though Great Keppel Island has more famous beaches, Monkey Beach is where you want to go if you want the privacy you'll be looking for to get a set of good family portraits. You can also go snorkelling in the clear waters after pictures if you have the desire. You'll even find shell middens from Aboriginal peoples here if you're willing to search for them.
2. Cylinder Beach, by North Stradbroke Island
Cylinder beach is close to Straddie and Main Beach, but it's much quieter than Maine while still getting you the lovely blue waters and white sand of the area. The waters are also quieter since they aren't as frequented, and you can have your pictures while you go paddling in the north facing waters.
1. Dingo Beach, in the Whitsundays crown
Finally, if you are having your family portraits done in Queensland on a beach, you owe it to yourself to visit Dingo Beach. Whitehaven Beach is definitely the more famous beach in the Whitsundays area, but that doesn't mean Dingo beach doesn't have lots to offer. It's off the beaten track and you'll feel like you're vacationing on a tropical island when you get there.
Conclusion
In conclusion, there are a number of famous places in Queensland to have your pictures taken and fantastic local photographers like Kiss Photography in Brisbane. However, if you are looking for some special family portraits, you owe it to yourself to look into some of the less well known beaches in the area. You'll have fewer people cluttering up the background as well as the chance to enjoy some peace and quiet with your spouse and children once the pictures have been taken.
