I am honored to be able to witness this momentous event last September 30, 2015 and it was touching to see that everyone, all the employees from the staff to the bosses, did their share in building the biggest coin mosaic in the world. Patricia Riingen, Western Union Vice President for Southeast Asia and the Oceana Region, says that it's their way of giving back to the Filipino people.
The total value of the coins used in mounting the coin mosaic will be used for Western Union's Technology Aiding the Nation's Youth to Accelerate Growth (TANYAG) program. Knowledge Channel Foundation was tapped to provide both the hardware and content of the multimedia libraries included in the packages that each school will receive.
Before the day ended, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ judge, Jack Brockbank, confirmed that the mosaic has made a new world record and is indeed the largest in the world in terms of surface area. I hope you can clearly see the Western Union 25th anniversary logo in the photo. The rising sun represents hope and a brighter future while the abstract of a dove symbolizes the company's ambition for the young children who will benefit from this project.
Congratulations to Western Union for this recognition! Congratulations, also, to the 25 public elementary schools who will benefit from this event.
