Ralph's Birthday Salubong at Madison 101 Hotel + Tower

May has always been a special month in our family because it's when we get to travel to celebrate Ralph's birthday. But with the change in academic year in Philippine Science, we couldn't do this anymore. This year, for Ralph's birthday, we just let him have fun with his friends in an OPM indie pop concert and had his birthday salubong at Madison 101 Hotel + Tower.

Madison 101 Hotel + Towers is a 3-star hotel located at Madison Street corner Aurora Boulevard, New Manila, Quezon City. It was a convenient option for us because the boys were both coming from school and work which was just around 30 minutes away. Meanwhile, it was also convenient for me because it was just walking distance from the Gilmore LRT station, which was my initial plan. But since it was a scorching hot afternoon, I decided to just take an Uber. Good thing, the hotel is right smack in front of Broadway Centrum so it was easy to find.

When I arrived, I immediately noticed a big group of students who just checked out and were waiting at the lobby. I was then informed that the students stayed in the dormitory rooms of the hotel and were waiting for their shuttle service going home to their province. Madison 101 Hotel + Towers has also been a popular choice among students needing a transient home because it is also just near Saint Paul University and the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay (UERM) Memorial Medical Center campus. I also came to know that there's a review center in the hotel itself.

We got a Double Deluxe Room at the 9th floor. The room is good for two persons but it had two double beds that were already good enough for the three of us.

The room had a mini-ref (minus the overpriced mini bar goodies) hot water kettle. It also had complimentary bottled water and 3-in-one coffee for two.

There's a flat-screen television with cable TV, a desk, and a chair.  You can also see, at the corner of the photo, that there's a tall closet that's just right beside the door. Guests can each have a closet if needed because there are two.

The bathroom is impressive, IMHO. At Php 3,500/ night, I was actually expecting a mediocre shower room with so-so toiletries. Compared to other budget hotels we have tried in the past, our room's shower room was bigger and it had rainfall shower.

I still had a lot of time before the boys arrived so I decided to go out for a while and go to the SM Savemore grocery that was just right across the hotel. I bought some extra water and instant coffee, chips, juices, and beer. I was also able to buy a 20's pack of SM Bonus disposable dining essentials so I also bought Andok's Lechon Manok, and achara for our extra dinner ulam. Madison 101 Hotel + Tower actually in-room meals that are pre-ordered from their ground floor cafeteria and that was what we did.

Oh wait, before I forget, I had a plate of spaghetti as my late lunch the moment I arrived and it only cost me Php 40! I guess that they keep the food affordable since most of their guests are students and travelers.

The boys arrived past seven o'clock. Good thing that we were able to park in one of the slots in the front parking area so I just had to peep down from our window to check our car. The in-room meals arrived just a few minutes after. The timing was perfect because I also arranged a full body massage for the boys at 10 pm.

I was glad that Madison 101 Hotel + Tower can arrange for massage service and their partner spa offers an affordable full body massage for only Php 299 an hour. It only took half an hour for both to drift to sleep. Ang lakas ng hilik nila pareho, hahaha!

I slept beside my husband that night while Ralph slept in the other bed. We all had a restful sleep that night. It's amazing that, even when it's located along the busy Aurora Boulevard, there was little noise that I heard through the night.

The following morning, we had our breakfast delivered to our room again. Since there was no pool and gym yet, we opted to hang out at Qups Quarters Cafe in the basement before checking out. We checked out quite early as we planned to have a buffet lunch for Ralph's birthday.

Here are the things I loved about our room and our stay at Madison 101 Hotel + Tower:

  • Location - The place is very accessible. It's just a jeepney or train ride away from Gateway Mall in Cubao, and a few minutes walk from Robinsons Magnolia and Mt. Carmel Church. Everything a traveler will need is just within easy reach.
  • Value for money - Madison 101 Hotel + Tower is for practical, budget travelers like us. We have stayed in other budget hotels with the same price that does not have a mini-ref, hot water kettle, and combs (yes, 2 suklay).
  • Staff hospitality - Madison 101 Hotel + Tower staff are friendly and approachable. All my requests were promptly granted and my queries answered with a smile.
  • Sweet-smelling room and crisp, fresh beddings - The first time I entered the room, I was already greeted with its sweet floral scent. The beds and pillows also had crisp, fresh linen.
  • Lots of available electrical outlets - I bring my own extension cord whenever we travel because I am used to hotel room having only 1 or 2 power outlets. In our room alone, there were 4 and another 1 in the bathroom.
  • Comfy bed with extra throw pillows - I sleep with 2 pillows under my head so I was happy seeing the throw pillows on the bed. The bed was also comfy, not too soft nor firm for my taste.
We might be back soon as I am eyeing the Presidential Suite for another family occasion. I hope that when we come back, the swimming pool and gym are already constructed. I also wish that they also provide hairdryers in each room or loan them upon request. Come to think of it, I didn't actually try to ask about that. Baka naman pwede, LOL! Overall, I can say that our overnight stay at Madison 101 Hotel + Tower made Ralph's pre-birthday celebration extra special.
