Keeping Your Family Home Safe

When you invest in a new family home, one of your first priorities should be to create a safe and secure environment.

Making your home safe and secure is simpler than you might expect, as there are just a few key steps that you can follow. Start off by making sure all of the exterior doors can close tight and lock securely, as you don't want your littles ones to have the ability to wander off when your back is turned, or for those outside to gain unauthorised entry. Have the same high standard for windows too, as children are always exploring and you wouldn't want to risk a fall from such a height.

Your next port of call should be fire safety, as the risk of a fire inside a family home is ever present. Installing the correct fire alarms is an essential step, as this way you'll be immediately notified whenever your systems detect triggers such as gas or smoke. It's also important to have accessible fire extinguishers that you can use in the event of an emergency. There are 5 different types of fire extinguisher - water, foam, ABC powder, carbon dioxide and wet chemical. Different fire extinguishers put out different types of fire, as those started by oil (such as fryer fires) require a specific extinguisher.
