Coco Mama Kicks Off “Save Our Coconuts” Project: A Fresh Take on Revitalizing the Coconut Industry

I’m super excited to share some fantastic news with you all. Coco Mama, the beloved gata brand we all know and love, is launching a game-changing initiative called the Save Our Coconuts project. With the Philippines being the world’s second-largest exporter of coconuts, it’s a big deal that our coconut industry is facing some serious challenges. Did you know that 20% of the country’s coconut trees are now aging and in decline? Yikes!

Coco Mama led by brand ambassador Ms. Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, Century Pacific Agricultural Ventures Inc. (CPAVI), The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), and the General Santos City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) representatives and volunteers at the Coco Mama “Save Our Coconuts” Project Kickoff Event

But don’t worry, Coco Mama is stepping up in a big way. They’re committing to a five-year plan to distribute 100,000 high-quality coconut seedlings. This isn’t just about planting trees; it’s about supporting smallholder Filipino farmers and ensuring the future of our coconut industry.

The exciting launch event happened on World Coconut Day in General Santos City, South Cotabato. It was a heartwarming tree-planting ceremony with none other than brand ambassador Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo. The event brought together key players like the Philippine Coconut Authority, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office – General Santos City, the Local Government Unit of General Santos City, Century Pacific Agricultural Ventures Inc., and, of course, our dedicated coconut farmers.

Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo couldn’t have been more thrilled about the project. She said, “It’s easy to forget how much effort goes into everyday products like gata. With the ‘Save Our Coconuts’ project, I’m thrilled to help promote our traditional gata dishes while making a real difference in the lives of the farmers who help bring this food to our tables.”

Coco Mama’s “Save Our Coconuts” Project is a big step in supporting the Philippine Coconut Authority’s broader mission to revitalize the coconut industry and uplift the lives of coconut farmers.
