Century Tuna, the Philippines' top tuna brand, is diving deeper into its commitment to marine conservation with the 2024 launch of its “Saving Our Seas” campaign. After a successful first year in 2023, this initiative continues to champion the Plastic Circular Economy, reef and coastal clean-ups, and community education across the country.
This year, Century Tuna expanded its initiatives to include education on responsible plastic waste management and the benefits of a Plastic Circular Economy. By collaborating with local communities, the brand is building awareness and promoting real, sustainable actions to help restore and protect the country's vital coastal regions.
“Our mission with ‘Saving Our Seas’ is not just to clean up but also to educate and inspire,” said Carlo Endaya, Vice President and General Manager of Branded Tuna Division, Century Pacific Food Inc. “Plastic pollution prevention starts with awareness, and we’re working to instill a proactive mindset for marine conservation.”

To celebrate International Coastal Cleanup Day, Century Tuna launched a school-based plastic recycling drive in elementary schools in Mabini, Batangas. This initiative, in partnership with HOPE’s Aling Tindera Waste-to-Cash program, invited students to collect plastic waste, exchange it for cash, and learn about recycling’s role in a Plastic Circular Economy—where collected plastics are repurposed, preventing them from returning to the environment.

“We want people to see the value in even small acts, like picking up a piece of plastic, as a way to earn and protect the environment,” said Ilusion Farias, Managing Director of HOPE.
This milestone day also saw Century Tuna’s coastal and reef cleanup in Mabini, Batangas, led by 2024 Century Tuna Superbods finalists and volunteer divers who joined CPFI employees in removing 357 kilograms of plastic waste from shorelines and underwater areas.

Following its achievements in 2023, when it collected over 10 metric tons of plastic, Century Tuna's “Saving Our Seas” has become a model for marine conservation and plastic pollution prevention. Notable projects like the Earth Day Palit Plastic Project in La Union and the Superbods Cleanup Drive in Zambales earlier this year further showcase the brand’s dedication to fostering a cleaner, healthier environment for future generations.
